Over the next days, weeks and months, we will learn more about Tyler Robinson, the 22 year old monster to assassinated Charlie Kirk on a college campus in Utah last week. As I write this, we know only the basics but the question on the minds of people any sense of morality is…why?
While some will no doubt be looking for deeply hidden answers and complicated scenarios behind the actions of this assassin, or looking for possible motives beyond the superficial, most times Occam’s Razor reveals the reality.
William of Occam was a Franciscan friar who lived in the 13th and 14th centuries and he was a scholastic philosopher, and theologian. William of Occam was a deep thinker, a problem solver and a person who tried to make sense of complicated issues. He eventually postulated that, “among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.” In other words, under most circumstances, the obvious cause for something proves to be correct.
