Weekend Edition: The Proverbial Fool Laughed

I have, for some time, questioned whether I would ever come across someone who’s arrogance could rise above that of Obama.

After watching last Thursday night’s Vice Presidential debate, I no longer have that question.

Joe Biden’s performance reeked of arrogance, reeked of disrespect and reeked of a deep psychosis.

It just flat out reeked.

Period.

Proverb:

1) a brief popular epigram or maxim : adage

The thing about proverbs is that they are precursors of future events.

The Biblical Proverbs were written nearly 3000 years ago and are as true in their wisdom today as when they were written.

Take, for instance, Proverbs 29:9.

There are many translations but, essentially, they are the same.

“If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.”

Last Thursday night, a wise man argued with a fool. The fool raged and the fool laughed. The fool interrupted the wise man 81 times in 90 minutes with his raging and with his laughter.

There was no quiet.

Fortuitous? Indeed. However, one need not go back so far as the days of Solomon to fins a man, wise enough, to be fortuitous.

No. One need only go back to a Thursday night in late August.

Weekend Edition: Lies Upon Lies to Cover-Up Blood on His Hands

Obama told us on September 13th: “Glen and Tyrone had each served America as Navy SEALs for many years, before continuing their service providing security for our diplomats in Libya. They died as they lived their lives — defending their fellow Americans, and advancing the values that all of us hold dear.

Susan Rice, our U.N. Ambassador told us on September 16th: “Well, first of all, we had a substantial security presence with our personnel…with our personnel and the consulate in Benghazi. Tragically, two of the four Americans who were killed were there providing security. That was their function. And indeed, there were many other colleagues who were doing the same with them.”

Both were speaking of the Navy Seals who were murdered in the Benghazi terrorist attack on September 11th, Woods and Doherty.

On September 20th we were told by administration officials: “The two former SEALS, Tyrone Woods, 41, and Glen Doherty, 42, were not employed by the State Department diplomatic security office and instead were what is known as personal service contractors who had other duties related to security. They stepped into action, however, when Stevens became separated from the small security detail normally assigned to protect him when he traveled from the more fortified embassy in Tripoli to Benghazi.”

Then, on September 23rd, we learned that: “Woods and Doherty were killed in the firefight at the annex, according to official reports.”

That annex, some 2 miles away from the Consulate where Ambassador Stevens and State Dept. Official Sean Smith were murdered…WAS ATTACKED IN A SECOND WAVE OF THE TERRORIST ATTACK A COUPLE OF HOURS AFTER THE INITIAL ATTACK.

So…We have gone from…The Navy Seals were a part of Ambassador Stevens’ security detail to…They stepped in to protect Ambassador Stevens when he became separated from his small security detail to…The Navy Seals, Woods and Doherty, we killed at an annex miles away and in a separate wave OF the initial attack.

Why?

Weekend Edition: The Fast and Furious Libya Cover-Up

After 18 days of watching the response to the terrorist attack in Libya, I must admit that I am absolutely livid.

What They’re Covering Up.

It’s bad enough that Obama and his administration knew full well that this attack was a terrorist attack and then they lied about what it was for the better part of 2 weeks but, it gets even worse.

I’ll get to the lies later.

Now we discover that, while indeed there had been 4 attacks or attempted attacks on diplomatic missions  in the region leading up to the September attacks…The Consulate in Benghazi had been classified as a “critical threat terrorism or civil unrest posting,” and, stunningly…

Not one single upgrade in security, either physical or in personnel, was done to protect the Benghazi Consulate or the people who were stationed there.

Not one.

In fact Ambassador Stevens, in his personal journal, found by CNN stated that he feared the rise of al Qaeda in the region and believed he was on a hit list.

Now, cables from the Ambassador to the State Department are being sought but, the State Department is dragging their feet in turning those communications over to the Senate.

Why?

Could those communications reveal that Stevens had requested more security…Which was never provided?

Could those communications show much, much more?? Trust me…I’ll get to that!!!

Weekend Edition: DO NOT DRINK THE SHAMPOO

I have been reminiscing lately, about my childhood, and I have come to the most startling conclusion. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE MIRICLE that I am alive today to reminisce about my childhood!

When I was a kid, the world around us was MUCH more dangerous than it is today.

A few days ago, while watching Elizabeth Warren at the convention, I decided the time was ripe to do something I had, for far too long, neglected.

I read the label on a bottle of recently purchased shampoo.

Along with all the directions, which can only be read with the use of an electron microscope, were the only words clearly visible from space…

“WARNING: FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.”

Really?

My God given common sense has, so far, prevented me from drinking the shampoo.

As fascinating as I found Elizabeth Warren, I left the TV and headed for the bathroom where I started checking OTHER labels.

Did you know that your antiperspirant is ALSO for external use only?

Our hair dryer has a warning on IT too.

“WARNING: KEEP AWAY FROM WATER – DANGER – DO NOT USE IN BATH OR SHOWER”

Set aside, for a moment, the shocking possibility of being electrocuted and consider…on the moron scale…where one would have to be to believe that, while in the shower, with the water running, one could get their hair dry.

Let’s face facts.

Weekend Edition: Politics and Social or, Anti Social Media

Over The last few years, one thing has had a most definite impact on politics.

The Tea Party?

Well, yes but…

Obama’s ideology of division?

Well…yes, but…

There is something else. Something bigger than ideologies and bigger than a candidate or a political movement.

It’s social media.

Social media has changed the way we view, discuss and relate to politics.

I’m not just talking about Breitbart although, he did do more to bring social media to the forefront of politics than any other thousand people I know and while his personal impact was too short lived, his residual impact will continue to reverberate and shape the future forever.

I’m talking about garden variety social media and the people who utilize it in the most basic way.

Facebook and Twitter have provided a way to broadcast individual views like never before and just like politics…Social media can bring out the best, and worst in people.

We, as individuals, are able to share our thoughts, ideas, comments, images and yes, our blogs and websites with THOUSANDS of people and it’s real time, live and at times, overpowering.

Think about it. We have watched social media organize uprisings in Egypt, Iran, Syria and in Libya, we watched images and videos of the demise of Gaddafi just moments after he was killed.

The Weekend Edition: Tea Party Roots and the Convention

This weekend, we stand on the doorstep of the 2012 Republican Convention.

That convention will begin on Monday, come rain or shine…Hurricane or not In Tampa and just like the expected weather, the event itself will be somewhat stormy.

Not every Republican is happy with the event because not every Republican is happy that Mitt Romney will officially become the GOP Nominee.

Various factions of the Tea Party are holding out hope that their choice, somehow, will become the nominee.

Such is the nature of the Tea Party with which I am proud to identify.

In those early months of the Tea Party, liberals tried, in vein, to label us as everything from racists to angry mobs, to ready for the padded rooms at Bellevue.

But, do you remember the first label? The very first one so falsely attributed to the Tea Party?

Astroturf.

It was April 15th, 2009. TAX DAY. That’s when Nancy Pelosi stepped to a microphone and stated, “This [tea party] initiative is funded by the high end — we call call it astroturf, it’s not really a grassroots movement. It’s astroturf by some of the wealthiest people in America to keep the focus on tax cuts for the rich instead of for the great middle class. “

Astroturf.  NOT a real grassroots movement.

Some of the wealthiest people in America trying to keep the focus on tax cuts for the rich.
