The liberal left created the monster.

They raised it up, fed it, took it out for walks in the park, loved it and powdered its behind.

They embraced it, hugged, championed it and became attached to it.

Liberals claimed it as their own, and as they unleashed it on the general populous, they gave it a name…

“Cancel Culture.”

In reality, it isn’t new. It’s been around as long as people have been around. Back in the day, it took the form of banishment from a community, or the public shaming of someone deemed to have committed some social misdeed.

People used to be pilloried…

put on public display with a sign telling all who passed by what they had done wrong.

The “cancel culture” has existed throughout time and in every society known to man since societies and man were invented, but now it has been given a 21^st century reboot. The pillory is out, and social media is in.

All hail the new scarlet “A” in the form of being, “woke.”

Sure, creating the monster and giving it life was fun for liberals when they could control it, but like all monsters real and imagined, the “cancel culture” has turned on its master.

Liberals set their monster loose on the likes of Rosanne Barr and got her fired from her successful sitcom reboot because Rosanne wasn’t one of them. She’s a libertarian who leans towards Conservative. Rosanne was bold enough to take a stand against liberalism, and she had to pay the political price.

Initially, the “cancel culture” was a new tool controlled by liberals to use against Conservatives who dared to express a different point of view. It was used to intimidate Conservatives in the effort to control thought, as well as speech. But we all knew it was just a matter of time before the “cancel culture” went rogue.

Liberals can no longer control the beast they built.

Recently, the New York Times (yes, THAT New York Times) devoted ink to calling for the cancellation of the Paw Patrol, a kids cartoon on Nickelodeon that feature a bunch of dogs that assist other animals. Now why do you suppose the ever-so-liberal New York Times was advocating for the cancellation of the Paw Patrol? Because, they said it was too positive toward the police.

Well, we certainly don’t want impressionable children to somehow believe that the cops could be good, and helpful in our communities now do we?

Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd have also joined the list of cartoon cancellations because, you know, they tend to tote guns around and the same kids who may think cops are okay may also start to think it’s okay to hunt wabbits.

Lately, the “cancel culture “ got loose from its liberal leash thanks to a distinct minority of the minority of Americans and before anyone realized what was happening, a box of rice, some pancake mix and a couple of bottles of syrup, ice cream treats and Cream of Wheat were all victims of an idiotic ideology.

The “cancel culture” managed to fire black icons and remove them from the public domain.

Let’s be honest here…the initial purpose behind the “cancel culture” was simply to lock down Conservatives by adding teeth to political correctness, but it began to morph into a weapon to be used against anything Conservatives stood for, like the 2^nd Amendment, churches, and eventually, the 1^st Amendment as the “woke” left began to cancel Conservative public speakers. Then, the unthinkable began to happen to those incapable of thought.

Liberals said the “cancel culture” wasn’t real…that Conservatives were just imagining things but then the law of unintended consequences suddenly showed up.

The “cancel culture” had turned on its creators. Wokeness descended on the liberal high and mighty like an Acme anvil on a coyote. They never saw it coming because their collective eyes were so wide shut.

Luckily, I grew up in an era where comedy was supposed to be funny, clever, and cutting at times. Sure, there were funny people outside the mainstream…people like Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Andrew Dice Clay and others getting laughs just like Johnny Carson, Bob Newhart and Rodney Dangerfield. Funny was funny, and where people like Pryor were concerned, it relied on being politically incorrect.

In today’s woke “cancel culture,” Pryor wouldn’t be allowed on a stage, Carlin would be shut down, and Dice would be soundly and soundly hammered. Today’s comedy isn’t funny. It’s bone-crushingly stupid. It’s been dumbed down for a dumbed down generation indoctrinated by liberalism. Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon are only clever in their own minds, and both truly believe they need to be both social and political commentators because they have a platform, a megaphone and they’ve been backed by the liberal agenda.

The “cancel culture” has never relegated itself to the here and now. It has always relied on digging dirt from people’s pasts to inflict damage today. Anything a Conservative said, did, or wrote as far back as 30-40 years was fair game. Don’t think so? Then explain the attempt to crush the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court over made up allegations from 30-35 years ago.

Explain how things that were written by Conservatives on social media 7 or 8 years ago, before liberal wokeness and “community standards” the social media term for “cancel culture” got those Conservatives booted from various forums…sometimes permanently.

With the monster of “cancel culture” running amok, it was only a matter of time before it started biting the hand that fed it.

“Gone With the Wind,” a true cinema classic is now “Gone With the Cancel Culture,” because a movie made in 1939 doesn’t fit with today’s “community standards.”

Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon, early in their careers used make up to appear as the black people they were imitating? How dare they do such a thing. Out they go.

Cops and Live PD got the “cancel culture” treatment because they show real cops in real situations doing a tough job and being the good guys. Cops are bad according to the “cancel culture” monster, and Lego has now stopped manufacturing “Lego City Police Station” and “Police Highway Arrest” lest some kid grows up to want to Protect and Serve.

Journalists, chefs, entertainers, and business CEO’s are being taken down because somebody, somewhere has decided they did something, somewhere years, if not decades ago that ran contrary to today’s woke agenda.

Sports broadcaster Don Cherry, actress Scarlett Johansson, comic Sarah Silverman, Comedian Dave Chappelle, J.K. Rowling and Ellen DeGeneres are just a small handful of those who are now caught up in the “cancel culture” shredder.

Then…it happened…

The woke liberal juggernaut, the Broadway smash that saw stage actors break character to boo Vice President Mike Pence, the Tony Award winning agenda driven liberal love fest, “Hamilton” got its ass chewed off by the “cancel culture” monster.

It seems that while liberals were patting themselves on the back for creating a play about Alexander Hamilton featuring a near all black cast, and by the way a black Hamilton, to thoroughly trash Conservative ideals, they forgot to do their homework.

As it turned out, Alexander Hamilton, the liberal darling, was a slave trader. Hamilton, as it turns out, was a member of the elite of his time. Hamilton, as it turns out, was a firm believer in the American dream, America first, and earning your own success.

CancelHamilton is now a hashtag on Twitter. Critics who once love the musical, now hate it. Suddenly woke ideologues, masquerading as political activists and the morality police have decided that Hamilton is too smooth by half, and ignores certain aspects of the man, and other Founding Fathers. They want it off the stage, and the lights turned off.

Hamilton, the man, like Thomas Jefferson and others wanted to end slavery, and they were indeed outspoken in that regard, but like Jefferson and others, Hamilton benefitted from the practice of slavery. Common sense and history teach those willing to learn rather than being indoctrinated that the greater good was served by such men and their vision for America’s future. It was because of their vision, and their actions to do away with slavery that won out over the fact that they had a minor role in the practice of it.

The “cancel culture” monster doesn’t think. It finds no latitude, and gives no quarter. It’s a machine that has no reason, no logic, no common sense and no boundaries.

A week ago, Harper’s Magazine published an open letter signed by more than 100 liberal elites opening with a call for all sorts of social justice including the defunding of police departments, but the letter went on to state, “this needed reckoning has also intensified a new set of moral attitudes and political commitments that tend to weaken our norms of open debate and toleration of differences in favor of ideological conformity. As we applaud the first development, we also raise our voices against the second.”

These liberal hypocrites had no issues at all when the “cancel culture” monster was directed solely against Conservatives, and Conservative expression, but the minuet it turned on them, and they could no longer control their own beast…they start crying foul.

I’ve been saying it for the past decade…political correctness is dangerous, out of control, and an affront to the 1^st Amendment. Liberals just scoffed. Now, the monster they created is eating its own, and they want it stopped.

At this point it’s a bit like putting what a bear leaves in the woods back into the bear.

So, can the “cancel culture” be cancelled? That’s up to liberals. If they try to cancel it only when it applies to them, it will not go away. If they issue a directive to the liberal collective that it come to an end…maybe, but it does have a life of its own at this point, and it’s being driven by yet another monster of liberal’s own creation…the angry mob.

What it will really take to cancel the “cancel culture” is for liberals to gain common sense and logic while putting aside their typical knee-jerk reactionary emotion-driven agenda…and that’s not likely to take place any time soon.

As Conservatives, we should not ignore it, but continue to loudly and forcefully call out the hypocrisy of it to render it mute for all sakes and balances. It’s a socialist/communist tactic, it’s anti-American in every aspect, and it is completely unconstitutional.

Let’s face it…

Until the notion of defunding the police came along, the “cancel culture” was the dumbest liberal tactic out there, and just like what’s happened with the “cancel culture,” defunding the police will come back to devour the very liberals who hatched it, raised it up, fed it, took it out for walks in the park, loved it and powdered its behind.

Just wait…you’ll see.
