I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…nobody alive today in the United States has ever been a slave in the United States…and nobody alive in the United States today has ever own slaves in the United States.

That is just a cold, hard fact…but it’s not stopping the descendants of slaves from seeking reparations from the descendants of former slave owners.

Here’s something else I’ve said before…

If your ancestors were slaves, and you think that you deserve reparations…dig up the some old pre-Civil War democrats…dig through their pockets and whatever loose change you can find…is yours…but don’t come around demanding that I pay you for what my ancestors might have done to your ancestors.

That said…

What took place in Portland Oregon last week may well have been THE most bone-headed thing I’ve heard of yet in the bone-headed world of demanding reparations for slavery.

Last week…primarily white people…who, by the way, were asked not to attend…in primarily white Portland Oregon hosted “people of color” who were given $10 dollars each of other people’s money as a symbolic gift that was billed as a “Reparations Happy Hour” at a local bar with which the “people of color” could buy themselves the adult beverages of their choice.

This absurd “Reparations Happy Hour” was the bone-crushingly stupid plan of a local activist group called Brown Hope, and they wanted the event to be a space for “people of color” in a mostly white city to meet, organize, discuss public policy and potentially plan various actions…while getting drunk.

Now before I provide proof of why getting the ancestors of slaves drunk to make up for slavery won’t work…allow me to provide some facts and figures directly related to reparations.

Back in 2016, some organization conducted a poll which showed that 58 percent of black people, and 46 percent of Hispanic people supported full-scale reparations as compensation for the horrors of slavery, and Jim Crow laws. It should also be noted that both the black and Hispanic vote in this country, has for decades, gone to the democrat party which, by the way, were both the slave owners and the inventors of Jim Crow laws…not that facts matter to either of those two particular voting blocs.

But here we get to the real crux of the demand for reparations…the poll also showed that the aforementioned support was for closing the large wealth gap between white and black U.S. households.

So…what’s the cost associated with such full-scale reparations?

According to economist Robert Browne, the fair value for reparations would be somewhere in the neighborhood…or hood…of $1.4 trillion to $4.7 trillion dollars.

Browne wrote that such a figure would…”restore the black community to the economic position it would have had if it had not been subjected to slavery and discrimination.”

I beg to differ.

If the ancestors of slaves want to truly enjoy the economic position they would have had…had their ancestors not be subjected to slavery…they should get their collective keesters on a boat, and go back to the tribal lands OF those ancestors and demand that the descendants of their ancestors…the very people that rounded up their ancestors and sold them into slavery to begin with pay whatever reparations they think they deserve.

The fact is…white people in the United States, way back in the day, were at the tail end of the slave trade business. It was black people in Africa who captured rival tribe members and sold them to the white European slave traders, who took care of shipping and handling…transporting the captured tribal members to various points for the purpose of selling them to slave owners.

Fact…the first person to own black slaves in the United States was…Anthony Johnson…a black man.

Fact…in 1860, William Ellerson owned 63 black slaves in North Carolina, and he too was a black man, but just one of 171 black slave owners in North Carolina at the time.

Fact…in 1830, there were 3,775 free black people who owned 12,740 black slaves.

Fact…of the total population of the United States at the absolute height of slavery in 1860, only 1.4 percent of the American people owned slaves.

Fact…the democrat party defended slavery, started the Civil War, founded the KKK, created the Jim Crow laws and fought against every major civil rights act in U.S. history until 1964.

Fact…brutal black-on-black slavery was common in Africa for thousands of years.

Fact…there is no race of people, nor ethnic origin of people who have not, at some point in history, been held as slaves.

And fact…the President featured on the ten dollar bills that were handed out and gleefully accepted by “people of color” last week in Portland Oregon’s “Reparations Happy Hour,” President Alexander Hamilton or Alex to his friends…was a slave owner.

Okay…given these facts…and according to the poll results…58 percent of black people, and 46 percent of Hispanic people support full-scale reparations as compensation for the horrors of slavery, Jim Crow laws, and are demanding that between 1.4 trillion and 4.7 trillion dollars be ponied up by 100 percent of white people in the U.S. today…even though only 1.4 percent of the American population ever owned slaves…and some of those slave owners were themselves…black.

Okay…in the face of those figures, it doesn’t seem at all appropriate to demand that all white Americans pay reparations for what only a scant 1.4 percent of Americans did in the days of slavery, so why not just demand that the ante be paid only by the descendants of the slave owners?

The answer to that is both simple, and staggering…

There is not anyone living in America today who is not a descendant of a slave owner, and there is not anyone living in the America today who is not the descendant of a slave. In fact, both can be accurately said of every single person alive on the earth today…because at some time or another, every race, every ethnicity of people on this planet have been slave owners, or slaves.

Let’s be honest here…we’re not talking about reparations for slavery here…we’re talking about a whole new level of welfare.

Alrighty then…I said I would prove that the “Reparations Happy Hour” idea thingy wouldn’t work and there are two basic reasons why it won’t work.

First…in order to collect reparations of any kind…happy hour or sans happy hour…such reparations would have to be derived from every American…including those seeking or demanding reparations and since all Americans, and for that matter, all people worldwide are descended from both slaves, and slave owners…all people in America, or on earth would thus be responsible for paying reparations…to themselves.

Let’s be honest here…yesterday’s democrats…today’s liberals…want nothing whatsoever to do with self-accountability, and holding themselves accountable for slavery is the last thing they have any want to do.

The second reason this whole “Reparations Happy Hour” won’t work is that it has been attempted before…and it failed miserably.

Think about it…

White people back in the day weren’t all too kind to the Indians, who later became the American Indians and are now Native Americans…and in an effort to get on their good side…we bought them drinks for years…kind of an old west Happy hour as it were…and even though white people managed to get the Indians drunk…they still have their panties in a wad over the whole thing.

Ask any Indian you come across and they’ll tell you that in regards to “Happy Hour” reparations…they still have…reservations.

I don’t know…maybe along with the fire water, our ancestors should have provided pretzels.
