Okay, the Iowa Caucuses, or Cauci (the plural form) are over and what did we learn from the fracas?
Well…
We learned that a full 43% of Iowans identify themselves as socialists and of that 43%, they had to toss coins in order to determine which of their socialist candidates would be awarded which socialist delegates. Hillary (soon to be indicted) Clinton squeaked out an extra delegate over Bernie (I intend to hike your taxes beyond bejesus) Sanders.
And how did those coin tosses go? Well…Hillary won 6 in a row. The last time a Clinton got that lucky calling heads or tails…it was Bill…with Monika.
The ‘get off my lawn” voters can relax though as Sanders will win the communist vote by a wide margin next week in New Hamster…er…New Hampshire.
That is what we learned on the government needs to take care of us from cradle to grave side of the aisle, but what was it we learned on the RIGHT side of the American aisle?
Plenty…
We learned that Marco Rubio is a force to be reckoned with as he came in, not a distant third like so many predicted and not even an average third as his own campaign had predicted. The Rubio camp would have been happy with a 15% showing on Monday night but what they got, while it may have surprised them, didn’t surprise me in the least…a 23% showing.
Marco Rubio has the biggest boost in momentum coming out of Iowa based on that showing…numbers way above expectations and far beyond even his wildest dreams. Voters in New Hamster…er…New HAMPSHIRE, South Carolina and beyond will be taking notice and casting ballots. I’m not saying he’s going to win those states but I AM saying he’s going to be a contender in them, enough so that his campaign will be strengthened by them.
What else did we learn from Iowa and the Republican vote there?
We learned that Ted Cruz has a campaign built for the long haul and that he’s not at all afraid to stand his grass rooted ground and win over voters…voters many of whom were, just a week ago, dead set against him based on his ethanol subsidy position. However, once they heard him during the last debate, explain it, as he explained it in person time and time again to Iowa farmers…that his position doesn’t trample the farmers to raise up the oil companies but rather reduces the oil companies and all other energy producers to an even playing field while making room for even MORE ethanol production and use by stomping out the EPA regulations that LIMIT it…Cruz won the Iowa rural vote going away.
When Iowa Republicans actually listened to what Ted Cruz had to say…they liked him. They really liked him. They ignored the rhetoric spread by his rivals, ignored the manure spread by the Republican establishment (and Iowans know a manure spreader when they smell one) and they ignored the media’s constant harping and voted for the candidate that had a plan on which they could hang their hats.
Cruz, by the way, came in first…in an 11 candidate race…and received more votes than any candidate in Iowa Cauci history in the process. That is no easy task.
I’ll get to Trump…just hang on, but before I do…I need to deal with several other things we learned in Iowa.
Mike Huckabee dropped out. Huckabee has never had the base of support, either with the voters or the donors to sustain a candidacy in 2016 and his running over to the Trump farce rally after the debate last week was a strong signal of his intentions. It also signals that he will try to send his 2%, his evangelical 2% in Iowa and elsewhere, to support Trump…the guy who is on video stating in no uncertain terms that he is pro-choice and not at all against partial-birth abortions.
Good luck with that.
We also learned that Christi, Paul and Santorum should follow Huckabee out the door as none of them were able to pull in as much as 5% of the voters in Iowa. Jim Gilmore did end his campaign on Monday night which was a real shock as almost nobody knew he was even IN the campaign.
Little Jebbie…the Republican establishment cupcake darling, managed to scrape up 2.8% of the voter’s crumbs in Iowa so it’s clear that his campaign is as stale as an open package of snack cakes in a Phoenix Gas N’ Go. He needs to beat a hasty retreat from the pack.
John Kasich, I believe, will bow out next week during the New Hamster…I MEAN NEW HAMPSHIRE primary as he doesn’t want to get anywhere near a total humiliation event of coming in dead last in his own state of Ohio down the road.
Carly Fiorina…who pulled only 1.86% in Iowa…needs to take a seat…by the phone, and wait for a call to become the VP on somebody’s ticket. Fiorina is sharp, strong and makes sense but she has never been able to gain traction but she WILL make a GREAT VP choice as she, I believe, has a lot to bring to the table.
Alrighty then…this brings us to the Trumpy portion of the Iowa results.
While there have been countless Trumpers out there who claimed that their guy won the last debate, a debate in which Trump did not participate…let me point out, as I did in the days after the debate, that I did not participate in that last debate either therefore, using their logic…I won that debate every bit as much as did Donald Trump.
Naturally, the Trump drunk then pointed out to me that he won, because his name was mentioned during the debate. Okay, for the sake of argument, allow me to make another point. Hillary’s name was mentioned more often in the Trumpless debate that was Donald Trump’s name therefore…Hillary beat Donald in that debate…using the Trumper logic.
That said…there were those Trumpers who, after Monday night, claimed that Trump actually WON in Iowa. Okay…let’s see…Cruz got 28.65% of the Iowa vote to Trump’s 24.31% which, I suppose, if one employs common core math, means Trump won but, even though the 2.8% Bush is all FOR common core…it just doesn’t add up to a Trump win when REAL math is applied to the equation.
And speaking of common core math…did you happen to notice the numbers at the end of the night for the liberal/socialists?
Martin O’Mally, who ended his campaign, totaled 1% of the socialist vote. Bernie Sanders totaled 50% of the socialist vote and Hillary totaled 50% of the vote. Ummm…
50+50+1 = 100?
But that wasn’t the end of the sour grapes from the Trumpers.
By the end of the night on Monday, Trumpers were running amok with attacks against Ted Cruz because, according to Ben Carson, who placed fourth with 9.31% of the Iowa vote, the Cruz campaign was telling Carson’s supporters that Carson was leaving the campaign and the Trumpers then attacked Cruz for dirty politics.
Here are three posts that kept showing up on my FB feed all morning on Tuesday from Mark Bonner in which he is attacking Cruz because Trump didn’t win in Iowa.
Well…just as I have to for liberals, I have to do for the Trump drunk…I have to do their homework for them.
First of all…here’s the email from the Cruz camp that the Trumpers have uneducatedly glommed onto.
Nowhere in this email does it say that Ben Carson was dropping out of the race…much to the constipation of Trumpers everywhere but, where DID the rumor originate?
Why…from the MEDIA…exactly as the email from the Cruz camp claimed. It came from CNN as per tweets one can easily find by clicking right here.
And then just look at what the dirty, rotten scoundrel did on Tuesday…
Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying Dr. Carson was not carrying on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, our campaign updated the grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story. That’s fair game.
What the team should have done is send around the follow-up statement from the Carson campaign clarifying that he was indeed staying in the race when that came out.
That was a mistake from our end, and for that I apologize to Dr. Carson.
He, Ted Cruz himself, issued an apology for something he, himself had no part in nor any control over…he, himself, apologized just like a true leader should. HE, Ted Cruz, the bane of the Trumpers existence, took ownership of it, accountability for it, and apologized.
Gee…isn’t that what we want in a leader? Accountability because whatever happens on his watch, he is responsible for?
But it was Ben Carson who was doing exactly what Bonner and several commenters to his posts were claiming Cruz was doing…attacking another candidate, without doing HIS homework to discover just where it all started. HAD Carson actually taken the time, about 5 minutes, to investigate this…he would have discovered, as did I after about 5 minutes, that the whole false allegation was started by CNN and not Cruz meaning that Ben should have been attacking the MEDIA and NOT a rival candidate.
But reality doesn’t matter to reality show supporters does it?
Here’s another dose of reality…before the misleading CNN crap-shoot…Ben Carson had 9% of the Iowa vote. When all was said and done…Carson had 9.31% of the vote so the false CNN story didn’t hurt him one little bit.
Look, we’ve all seen this Trumper tactic before. It’s the same tactical crap employed by the Paulbots in 2012 who, after their moonbat didn’t win a single primary, got their tinfoil panties in a wad because, according to them, Ron Paul should have gotten the 2012 nomination anyway.
Relax Trumpers, YOUR moonbat will win in New Hamster…NEW HAMPSHIRE with Cruz and Rubio vying for second place and once again, Carson will finish a distant fourth.
The reality of Iowa is this…we now have a 3 candidate race. Cruz, Trump and Rubio, with the rest of the pack needing to pack it in and go home.
What we need to hear now is substance, real plans and details from those three candidates and only two of them have the capability of providing substance.
What’s Trump’s version of substance? What is Trump’s real plan?
When asked, not long ago, “How will you bring back the American Dream?” Here was the in depth and well thought out, after months of campaigning response from Trump…
“Look…we can bring the American Dream back. That I will tell you. We’re bringing it back. Okay? And I understand what you’re saying. And I get that from so many people. ‘Is the American Dream dead?’ They are asking me the question, ‘is the American Dream dead?’ And the American Dream is in trouble. That I can tell you. Okay? It’s in trouble. But we’re going to get it back and do some real jobs. How about the man with the beautiful red hat? Stand up! Stand up! What a hat!”
Those hats, by the way, are made in China.
THAT was Donald Trump’s precise quote from a September 17th, 2015 town hall meeting in New Hamster.
NEW HAMPSHIRE!!!
But according to the Trumpers…substance is just oozing and dripping off that statement.
Take my advice Trumpers…join a support group, like TDA (Trump Drunk Anonymous)…and step away from the vat of Kool Aid.

I totally agree on Fiorina. She would be a great addition.
You, my friend, are getting better and better. I look forward to reading your take on all things political.
