Almost as if on cue. just a few days after writing and posting “Another School Shooting and the Liberal Double Standard,” a story comes across the wires which is so predictable, it’s frightening.
If you haven’t read that article you should before finishing this one.
Have we heard a word, a single word from the liberal left regarding the candlelight vigils and prayer meetings for students of Chardon in the wake of that horrible school shooting earlier this week?
Nope.
Not even a whisper.
Had these same students held prayers BEFORE the tragic event which has now claimed the lives of 3 students, we would have had liberals, their mouthpieces and the ACLU coming unhinged; but, in response to the shooting, no way.
Let me be clear, they, the liberal left and their mouthpieces, SHOULD keep their yaps shut.
They should also shut up if a school wants to have a prayer at a graduation or if a student prays at the lunch table or if a student athlete Tebows on the sideline.
But…Less than a week after the shootings in Ohio, we do have THIS:
Did we call it or did we call it?
We also have THIS story this week.
A woman in Franklin Vermont has asked a local judge to block a prayer that traditionally opens the ceremonies on Town Meeting Day.
Here we go…
Marilyn Hackett doesn’t like the idea of a prayer.
The town of Franklin feels differently, THANK GOD, and has stated that Hackett doesn’t need to participate in the prayer or even be in attendance FOR the prayer to take part in Town Meeting Day.
Oh…but her legal representation says differently.
Her legal beagles claim that the town and its moderator have violated the Vermont’s Constitution and its guarantee against being forced to participate in organized religion and that she is being denied equal access to a public location because of her beliefs.
BULLCRAP.
Who IS her legal representation?
Why…None other than the ACLU.
This woman, Hackett, wants us to believe she is somehow offended by a prayer in a public setting and the ACLU is more than happy to champion her pointless cause.
Anybody surprised? Anyone shocked?
It’s par for the course.
She could simply not partake in the prayer or simply not attend that portion of the day’s events.
Problem solved.
But no…Hackett WANTS to be offended and it’s up to everybody ELSE to see to it that nothing is ALLOWED to offend her.
Please…SOMEBODY…Show me where in the Constitution it states that EVERYBODY MUST TAKE DIRECT STEPS TO BE SURE NOBODY GETS OFFENDED.
There is freedom of assembly and, it seems to me, Town Meeting Day fits that bill.
There is freedom of speech and it seems to me that said prayer is an exercise of free speech.
Ummm…There is no separation of church and state, so don’t even try it liberals.
There IS freedom of religion but…
For the very LIFE of me, I can find no freedom FROM religion in the Constitution.
It does make it clear that the state cannot ESTABLISH a religion but a prayer at the opening ceremony of Town Business Day does not ESTABLISH any religion.
It’s pretty simple to see the difference and SO simple that even LIBERALS should get it but, sadly, they don’t.
To ESTABLISH a religion, even at the Franklin, Vermont, level, there would need to be a law passed or a municipal ordinance passed to make a religion, some religion…ANY religion the LAW and for whatever religion that might be, there would have to be corresponding punishments leveled against anyone NOT abiding by the law or ordinance.
I checked.
No such law. No such ordinance. No corresponding punishment for infractions of a law or ordinance which doesn’t exist.
Thus…No ESTABLISHMENT of religion.
And yet, the liberal left, their mouthpieces and the ACLU crawls like snakes all over it while remaining completely silent regarding the candlelight vigils and prayer meetings for the students in Chardon, Ohio, this week.
We see this same scenario play out over and over again, don’t we? That’s why it’s so easy to predict.
Take the Gabby Giffords shooting as an example. Horrible, tragic.
In the wake of THAT awful day, a gathering took place in Tucson. It was a political event. Obama was there, it was paid for by pro Obama organizations and everybody who attended got a free T-Shirt. On each T-Shirt were the words, “Together We Thrive.”
Those words came directly from an email sent to Obama during the 2008 campaign.
“For too long Americans have been set one against the other. It is a side affect of a free market society,” Berry IV posted. “How can profits be maximized, how can I get the work down for the lowest possible costs. This continually sets one group against the other, especially in the blue collar sectors of America. It has become part of the American Business model, whether it was indentured servants, slaves picking cotton, sharecroppers, the industrious people that built the railroads or today’s migrant workers. As long as we remain divided, fighting for the scraps that America has to offer it will be one group against the other. “What I see in Obama is a chance for revolution. A chance for every group to be heard; A chance to live the American dream that has been denied to so many… “In a previous career, I was the global leader of Diversity for a global fortune 500 corporation. I have studied the affects of diverse groups working together and the results can not be denied. Together we Thrive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”Yes, it was a political event; and yes, prayers and moments of silence were offered AT that political event.
No…the liberal left, their mouthpieces nor the ACLU had one single thing to say regarding the mixture of prayer and a political event.
The liberal left, their mouthpieces and the ACLU most certainly DID seize the opportunity of that awful, horrible and tragic event to advocate for more GUN CONTROL.
Make no mistake, the liberal left will continue their double standard policies, continue to indoctrinate generations, continue to advocate against public prayer until something tragic happens, continue to advocate for more gun control WHEN something tragic happens and continue to try to convince us that everybody has a right to not be offended.
I’ll ask again, as I did in my previous article regarding this issue…
How’s that workin’ for ya?
