So…Obama now thinks algae is the answer to high gas prices. Algae. Is that going to be sold by the gallon or the pound? It’s important to know because I want to know if I calculate miles per gallon or miles per pound.
Pond scum.
Algae or Obama…Your choice.
“We’re making new investments in the development of gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel that’s actually made from a plant-like substance, algae – you’ve got a bunch of algae out here. If we can figure out how to make energy out of that, we’ll be doing alright. Believe it or not, we could replace up to 17 percent of the oil we import for transportation with this fuel that we can grow right here in America.“
Pond scum.
Obama now says oil is a thing of the past. It’s passé, old hat, yesterday’s news.
“We’re not going to be able to just drill our way out of the problem of high gas prices. Anybody who tells you otherwise either doesn’t know what they’re talking about or they aren’t telling you the truth.”
So…WE’RE not going to be able to drill OUR way out of the problem of high gas prices.
Really.
It’s been almost a year ago, March 24th or so…2011, when on a trip to Latin America, Obama made a stop in Brazil and offered THAT country the “technology and support” they would need to…Develop THEIR oil reserves.
To those IN Brazil, to whom Obama offered “technology and support” to develop their oil reserves, Obama then stated, “And when you’re ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers.”
Ahhhh…what a difference a year makes.
Then there’s old Chucky Schumer who piped up stating in a written statement, “While Iran plays games with oil production to punish the international community for holding them accountable for their rush to develop nuclear weapons, Saudi Arabia has the capacity to blunt Iran’s influence by increasing its production levels to capacity.”
From this we can only deduce that Brazil and Saudi Arabia CAN drill OUR way out of this problem of high gas prices but WE can’t drill OUR OWN way out of the problem.
Brazil, of course, accepted our technology and support…BEFORE THE STIFFED us and announced that they would sell THEIR newly developed oil reserves to CHINA.
Obama says, “We’ve got to develop every source of American energy—not just oil and gas, but wind power and solar power, nuclear power, biofuels.”
So far, Obama has thrown a billion dollars at solar companies which have then declared bankruptcy or have laid off up to 70 percent of their workers.
In the Pacific Northwest, we find wind farms which are being shut down and they are being PAID to shut down. According to Todd Myers, “We require taxpayers to subsidize the production of renewable energy, and now we want ratepayers to pay renewable energy companies when they lose money?” Todd is the director of the Center for the Environment of the Washington Policy Center.
The NRC voted 4-1 to allow Atlanta-based Southern Co to build two new nuclear power reactors at its existing Vogtle nuclear power plant in Georgia. The units will cost Southern and partners about $14 billion and enter service as soon as 2016 and 2017. These are the first 2 new reactors okayed since 1979 and, came directly on the heels of the Atlanta Georgia decision to allow Obama on the 2012 ballot even though Obama’s attorney didn’t show up at the hearing and presented not a shred of evidence or a single witness to refute sworn testimony from witnesses who WERE there and evidence which WAS presented.
Add to all of this, the fact that Obama said no to the most researched pipeline project because he didn’t think there had been enough research done which would have provided jobs and brought oil from Canada to the U.S. and the EPA is levying fines against oil companies because they don’t include a biofuel additive to their mixtures because that additive doesn’t exist.
Of course we can’t leave this topic without calling attention to Obama’s steadfast desire to jack up taxes on oil companies by eliminating subsidies.
“I’m asking Congress: Eliminate this oil industry giveaway right away. I want them to vote on this in the next few weeks. Let’s put every single member of Congress on record: You can — you can stand with the oil companies, or you can stand up for the American people.”
Of course, oil companies will do what anyone with half a brain would do…They’ll pass the extra cost right along to the consumer.
Those consumers, by the way, are the very same American people Obama says would be stood up FOR by causing oil companies to charge them more for a gallon of gas.
And of course, we have the Chevy Volt, built by Government Motors. The sticker price of the Volt is $41,000.00 and Obama is offering a $10,000.00 subsidy to those who purchase the thing. That subsidy, of course, like all subsidies, is funded by taxpayers.
Because of the sticker price, nearly all of those cars sold, and it ain’t many, are sold to people of wealth and to help get more people of wealth to occupy a Volt, the 99%, whose heroes are occupying parks, will have to pony up. The “Electric” vehicle runs for about 25 miles before GAS takes over to supply power and by the way, in most cases, COAL, another fossil fuel, provides the ELECTRICITY to begin with.
Oops…The Chevy Volt is shutting down their production for a minimum of 5 weeks because they have too many Volts which aren’t being purchased.
So…Solar is a bust. Biofuels are a bust. Wind is a bust. Electric cars are a bust. Nuclear power is good but we haven’t built any new nuke plants in over 30 years and just because one has been approved NOW doesn’t mean it’s gonna get built and the regulations ON nuclear plants are so extensive it’s likely the cost of building it will cause the price to the consumer to skyrocket. Bust.
That leaves us with…Algae.
I shudder to think how much taxpayer money will be thrown at pond scum and what cost hiking regulations will be placed on it by the EPA before we all realize that algae power is as unviable as Solyndra.
Liberals will of course demand to know what the difference is between subsidizing oil companies and Chevy Volts or any of the other alternative fuel busts.
Simple.
We know crude oil works. Anything else, at this point, is snake oil.
Drill here…Drill now…Liberals can add all the algae to their Kool Aid they want.
