There was a time, Korea…WWII…When celebrities loved this country. During those wars and in times of peace, Hollywood and the 
music industry stood with our troops and were seen waving our flag. It’s not that way now.
Oh sure, some still do but they are few and far between. Country music is pretty darn good at it and a small handful of Hollywood types but, that’s about it.
The ones who make the most noise these days are the Michael Moore and Sean Penn types. They embrace the entitlement society and promote socialism. They run about palling it up with dictators who regard our nation as their enemy and they run to foreign shores to spew their anti-American venom.
They tell us they will leave our country forever if conservatives get elected but, lacking the courage of their convictions, the cowards never follow through.
That’s why people, stars, like Gary Sinise and movies like “Act of Valor” are such a breath of fresh air. Today, Sinise is the exception, not the rule.
It’s also why, when someone you wouldn’t expect to do so, steps up, it’s noteworthy.
Katy Perry has stepped up.
Perry’s music is danceable, fun and let’s face it, she’s easy on the eyes.
I don’t know her politics and to a great extent, that’s also unusual these days. No matter on which side of the aisle she stands, she has stepped up with a new video for her song, “Part of Me.”
Many on the left, the liberal/socialist crowd, is now urging a boycott of Katy Perry because of her latest offering.
Screw em.
Remember Naomi Wolf? She wrote “The Beauty Myth.” She was also a proud arrestee at the Occupy movement. Wolf is one of those entitlement whiners who would rather sit in a park and demand that she be awarded what others have worked for and thinks the government should take care of her every want and need.
In Katy Perry’s video, she takes on the role of a young woman done wrong by her boyfriend and, tired of being taken advantage of, joins the United States Marines.
The entitled Wolf called Perry’s video, “A total piece of propaganda for the Marines.”
Of course, Naomi Wolf, in true liberal/socialist fashion, refused to shut her Occu-Pie-Hole with that and continued to spit…via her Facebook page…”I really want to find out if she was paid by them for making it. It is truly shameful… I would suggest a boycott of this singer whom I really liked – if you are as offended as this glorification of violence as I am.”
Katy Perry’s character in this video seeks empowerment and showcases the power of women in the United States Marines. Oh the horror…Oh the humanity.
Do people like Wolf really think our freedom was won and can be sustained with baskets of flowers and the sharing of diseases in a crowded park?
Wolf is also a feminist, a “Third Wave” feminist to be exact and in her book, she wrote this in her introduction: “The more legal and material hindrances women have broken through, the more strictly and heavily and cruelly images of female beauty have come to weigh upon us… [D]uring the past decade, women breached the power structure; meanwhile, eating disorders rose exponentially and cosmetic surgery became the fastest-growing specialty… [P]ornography became the main media category, ahead of legitimate films and records combined, and thirty-three thousand American women told researchers that they would rather lose ten to fifteen pounds than achieve any other goal…More women have more money and power and scope and legal recognition than we have ever had before; but in terms of how we feel about ourselves physically, we may actually be worse off than our unliberated grandmothers.”
So…Wolf wants women to empower themselves and not be adherent to the standards set by what the media thinks a woman should look like huh? Okay. Well, one doesn’t often see women in Marine boot camp on the cover of Vogue.
I suspect Wolf feels Perry is a traitor. Pop Princesses are supposed to be liberal/socialists and they are supposed to act like liberal/socialists all the time. They are supposed to join the Occupy dolts and bad-mouth their country. They are supposed to identify with the 99% while living the lifestyle of the 1%.
Wolf says she really liked…Past tense…Perry…I suppose, before Katy Perry decided to make a video featuring the Marines and playing a character who joins the Marines.
Naomi Wolf apparently believe women should be empowered but only to a certain point. Women, in the world of Wolf, ought to be 
empowered just enough to believe they are entitled to what others have and sit about in public places advocating socialism.
Women who achieve empowerment by joining the Marines, or for that matter, the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the National Guard or the Coast Guard, to fight for freedom and liberty at home or abroad, that stand tall for their country and are willing to put their lives on the line for the rights of those who sit in the park and feel entitled are, to Naomi Wolf, something to be boycotted and scorned.
Wolf’s empowerment of women seems to only go skin deep and focuses on their appearance while the empowerment of the women of our armed forces goes all the way to the bone.
By taking this stand against Katy Perry, Naomi Wolf, who likes to portray herself as an enlightened intellectual has, in fact, outed herself as a dim intellectual hypocrite.
By making this video, Katy Perry has proven there is more to her than meets the eye and a clear message can be sent to the liberal/socialist squatters like Wolf by simply downloading Perry’s song or her album.

Katy did a good job.. Like the music and the video. There is a Marine in every woman. Some just don’t put on the uniform. There is a message for all us guys. Don’t treat em bad. Treat them like a lady, a princess and a queen, and that deep inner marine will take care of all the hard stuff and rescue our male butts when we get in trouble. Naomi Wolf..what a wuss.
This is the first Katy Perry video I have watched. I normally listen to 70s and 80s music. Damn good video.

Naomi Wolfe may think she’s criticizing Katy Perry but I think her condemnation of Ms. Perry speaks volumes about the feminist movement. I, personally, think that Katy Perry’s video, for whatever her motivation behind it was, shows a more empowered woman than Ms. Wolfe’s actions and statements while seeking attention at an OWS rally. She managed to make it about her. Ms. Wolfe is, sadly, an example of the Dr. Spock generation where everything is given, nothing expected, and when those expections are not forthcoming, then “you will bite the hand that feeds you”. God, forgive us, help us and bless all those with the courage to speak and to act in the face of the evil that has penetrated our country.
I’m not a fan of contemporary music, but I’m about to become one.
My interest in modern music ended around the early 70s. Dion, Elvis, The Beach Boys and CCR made good music. But the last really good music was made by BS&T and Chicago. But I’m about to go to the iTunes Store and buy a Katy Perry album. This “lady” deserves respect, praise and reward. Let’s see if we can shoot her album right to the top of the charts?

Our granddaughter was in the Army and served in both Iraq & Afghanistan. She was an incredible soldier and we were so very proud of her accomplishments. She was moving up the ranks and was to begin training to head air-traffic controllers here in the states when she was killed in an accident. I take strong exception to folks who put women in the military down. I would have proudly staked my life on that girl! And I know for a fact that she was all a soldier ought to be and more.
RIP, Sweetheart! We miss you!

I am a woman and a veteran of the USMC; I joined to serve my country- I was not trying to be ‘a man’. Take out a history book, American women have fought right alongside their husbands when we settled this nation and quite often were the ONLY backup the men had, and if not for their service from WWII on the outcome of the war might well reflect greater casualty numbers for our men. Others joined for a variety of other reasons and many of those men and women died or were gravely wounded in defense of this nation. Their initial reason for joining does not mitigate their sacrifice and to seek to assert that is foolishness and arrogance. I thank Katy for the video, at least it is one Hollywood resident that doesn’t take pot shots at my fellow Marines.

I think it’s great that Naomi Wolf has made such a big deal out of this. Wolf wants to know if she profited from the Marines by doing the video; if this was meant as a recruiting video; wants folks to boycott Katy Perry’s video. Until this, I had never heard of Katy Perry. Wolf, keep it up…you will make Katy a hero for many/most…a villain or a few.. Also Israel has women in their military. Actually every woman and man are required to serve two years in their military. When I was young I wanted to join the air force so I can fly, but women weren’t allowed to fly back then. So good for her!

Awesome video, Katy! my son will be a 2nd lieutenant in the US Army , come May when he graduates from ROTC. I am proud of him and all our soldiers who join to fight for the freedoms we so take for granted in this country, the greatest country in the world! If this video only stirs up a ‘women = men’ emotion, then you have totally missed the boat!! This is bringing our military to the forefront of a political war on the conservative and patriotic fabric of this country!! Let’s get a US president in the Oval office who places our military above and beyond all other perks and spendings that have bankrupted us. Great video. I think what the video and song was saying is that women shouldn’t rely on men for their protection and for their self identity. Now, many guys have gone and joined the military to prove themselves and to get away from their troubles in life. Women want to do the same thing to.
