In the late spring of 1972, two break-ins at the Watergate Hotel in Washington D.C. led to one of the most significant events in American history…The resignation of the President. To be clear, it was not the break-ins that brought down Nixon. It was the cover-up OF the break-ins which damaged his presidency well beyond repair.
It took 2 years of intense investigations and a handful of stories in the press which relied on an unnamed source, identified at the time only as…Deep Throat…to shift public opinion, focus attention on the administration and eventually, force the resignation of Richard Nixon, the ONLY United States President ever to resign the office.
It has often been said that to ignore history is the most certain way to repeat it. While the adage stands as a stark warning it may well not go far enough. Ignoring the present may be the most certain way to render the lessons of history a mere whisper of the tumultuous days to come.
That is where we find ourselves as a nation today. The lessons of mid 1970s are being ignored and the faint whispers of pretense are being hushed.
Since 1972 and Nixon’s resignation in 1974, each and every purported scandal regarding any political entity has had the word “Gate” added to it as a suffix, almost as if the “Gate” in Watergate was a separate word. It wasn’t.
Now, we have thisgate and thatgate and the othergate.
What we don’t have is a “Gate” attached to anything having to do with Obama or his administration.
Instead, we have…Silencegate.
Holdergate
Eric Holder, the Attorney General, is in hot water. The Fast and Furious gun walking scandal is a hideous mess. Congress has
subpoenaed some 80,000 documents and emails from Holder’s Justice Department. Of the 80,000 documents subpoenaed only about 10% have been delivered.
With the body count mounting, more than 300 dead between Mexico and the United States at the end of the barrels of more than 2,00o weapons allowed into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, and the murder of at least one U.S. Border Agent, Holder continues to stall.
Stalling is too polite a term for what is actually happening. He’s covering up and he’s not alone. Others within the Justice Department and other official agencies like the ATF and Homeland Security and also covering THEIR collective asses.
So far, just as Nixon did with HIS people who masterminded and lied about Watergate, Obama is standing with Holder.
Just as Holder is the Attorney General, one should be reminded that John Mitchell was Nixon’s Attorney General before he took the post of Nixon’s reelection chairman and Mitchell was one of those indicted and convicted in the Watergate mess.

Solyndragate
Solyndra is but ONE of many “green energy” companies into which the Obama administration has poured taxpayer dollars and but ONE of many who have gone bankrupt. Solyndra is perhaps the worst of all however in that their guaranteed government “loan” 
was restructured shortly before the company went toes up so that private investors would receive any available “payback” before the American taxpayers would see a single red cent.
It is also becoming known, slowly, that many of those intimately involved IN Solyndra had close ties to Obama and the white house. When one looks at Solyndra and OTHER such now defunct “green energy” companies, one begins to see a pattern of cronyism.
Again, at this point, Obama stands WITH those such as Stephen Chu, the Energy Secretary, who okayed the “loans” and tells the public that sometimes, companies just don’t make it. In other words…Move along, there’s nothing to see here.
In the midst of the Watergate hearings, Nixon said, “I can say categorically that… no one in the White House staff, no one in this Administration, presently employed, was involved in this very bizarre incident.”
Can you hear the whispers yet?
There are, of course, other “gates” that would come with the prefix of ineptitude.
Budgetgate
Since the beginning of the Obama administration, there has been no budget passed. Naturally, Obama has blamed this on republicans while completely ignoring the fact that for the first 2 years of his Emperorship, HIS party controlled BOTH houses of congress. Last year, Obama’s own budget was deemed SO inept that it garnered not a single vote in the senate, failing 97-0. His
own party couldn’t even find value in it.
Deficitgate
Obama promised, in 2008, to cut the debt in half by the end of his first term. He had better hurry. So far, not only has he not come close to fulfilling that promise, not cut the debt by as much as one red cent…Obama has, in fact, INCREASED the debt from 10 trillion to nearly 16 trillion dollars. While, naturally, he blames this on Republicans and his predecessor, to date, Obama has added more to the national debt in 3 years than did Bush in 8 years. In fact, Obama has added more to the debt in 3 years than did all the presidents from Washington to Reagan combined. Obama told us that adding to the debt was immoral and unpatriotic.
Hmmmm…..
Oilgate
During his campaign in 2008, and while a senator, Obama, on several occasions, blamed Bush for rising gas prices. While under Bush, gas prices rose to $4 per gallon, when Obama first occupied the Oval Office, gas was at $1.83 per gallon. Today, after increased regulations, turning away the Keystone XL Pipeline, moratoriums on offshore drilling and refusals to open public lands to oil exploration, we are now paying $3.84 per gallon and Obama is telling us there is no “silver bullet” and has suggested we look for an energy supply in algae.
Gitmogate
Obama, during his campaign promised to close Gitmo. It’s still open and for a good reason. Closing it is a stupid idea. But, not one to bow down to anyone or anything other than foreign leaders, Obama is contemplating the release FROM Gitmo, 5 Taliban poobahs in an effort to make “friends” with our enemies in Afghanistan. The Taliban, by the way, are the sort of “friends” who are murdering our personnel over Koran burnings. For those NOT being released from Gitmo…Obama and his administration are building THEM a $750,000 soccer field where they can romp and play.
At this point, ineptitudegates examples could easily continue but, back to the scandalgates.
Appointmentgate
From Van Jones, an admitted communist who believes 9-11 was the doing of our own government, to Steven Chu, our energy Secretary who once said he hoped to raise gas prices to equal those of Europe, Obama has made some of the most scandal-ridden appointments of any president in history. Geitner, our Treasury Sectery in charge of overseeing the IRS who cheated on his own taxes. Immelt, the Jobs Creation adviser who sent a major division of his own company, GE, to China AFTER getting the job. Recess appointments when Congress was not in recess. Sunstein, the Regulatory Czar who is staunchly against the 2nd Amendment and has stated that hunting should be against the law. John Holdren, Science Czar who has advocated…In the event of a “over-population crises,” Holdren supports “laws requiring compulsory abortion,” government confiscation of new born babies, the “development of a long-term sterilizing capsule that could be implanted under the skin,” and, incredibly, “adding a sterilant to drinking water or stable foods….” as long a livestock would not be affected.
Federal Communications Commission, Mark Lloyd, who said, “It should be clear by now that my focus here is not freedom of speech or the press. This freedom is all too often an exaggeration. At the very least, blind reference to freedom of speech or the press serve as a distraction from the critical examination of other communications policies. The purpose of free speech is warped to protect global corporations and block rules that would promote democratic governance.”
Arne Duncan and Kevin Jennings to the Department of Education both of whom strongly advocate gay and lesbian lifestyle curriculum. Harold Koh, the State Department’s legal adviser who believes America should defer to the International Court of Justice to determine legal precedents. The National Security Council’s Samantha Power who favors sending US troops to Israel to forcibly impose a Palestinian state.
And, of course, Senior Adviser and Assistant to the President for Public Engagement and Intergovernmental Affairs, Valerie Jarrett, who is deeply involved in vetting those above and so many others who have received presidential appointments as advisers, czars or to the cabinet itself.

Obamagate
Who IS this guy? We know him as Barack Hussein Obama but is THAT his real name? As a kid, he was enrolled at the age of 6 into the 1st grade in Indonesia as Barry Soetoro. Soetoro was his stepfather, or so we’re told. Did the elder Soetoro adopt him? We have no records to indicate such. We DO know that only a citizen of Indonesia is allowed to enroll as a student in that school so, Barry 
Soetoro must have been an Indonesian citizen. Did he ever repatriate upon his return to America? Well, we have no documents indicating that he did. He supposedly attended Occidental College but we have no records to look at there either. We do have a document which names him as a scholarship winner as a foreign student at Occidental College. He apparently went to Harvard but, we have no records to view from Harvard. While AT Harvard, he was the President of the Harvard Law Review…no documentation there either. He apparently wrote a thesis while at Harvard. Nope…sealed…just like all his other college records.
There are however, signed affidavits stating he was introduced to Bill Ayers as a foreign student looking for financial aid. Signed affidavits indicating he introduced himself to a mail carrier in front of Bill Ayers parents home as a foreign student who wanted to thank them for their assistance to his education AND he, according to the affidavit, told the mail carrier that he would become the President of the United States. This was in the late 1980s.
We know that a social security number ascribed to him came from Connecticut when at the time, he was supposedly living in Hawaii. We have, thanks to the only official law enforcement agency investigation undertaken by Sheriff Arpaio, probable cause to believe his Selective Service registration is a fraud.
Also, due to the Arpaio investigation, we have probable cause to believe the “birth certificate” released by Obama nearly a year ago, is also a forgery. There IS a signed affidavit from a man who worked in the Hawaii office of records in 2008 which states HE was told, on several occasions, there WAS no hospital generated long form birth certificate in Hawaii for Obama and strongly suggesting he quit asking about it.
This leaves yet one MORE gate to be mentioned.
Mediagate
It was, to be sure, the media which dug out the truth behind Watergate. Woodward and Bernstein, got the lion’s share of the credit but because of them, all members of the media got involved. You could read a paper or watch an evening newscast without Watergate being front and center.
The media ferreted out each member involved in the scandal. The media lit em up for the public. Exposed those behind the break-in and those involved in covering it up. It led…The media led…to the resignation of a President who faced impeachment and conviction.
Now, today, the media is complicit in the cover up rather than exposing it. The media is protecting the man behind the curtain. The media ignores the facts, doesn’t ask the questions, and dismisses the very notion that THIS President is not at all what he CLAIMS to be.
Today’s media, granted, is different. We now have 24 hours news cycles and citizen journalists. We have the internet and social media. Anyone, journalist or sleuth or law enforcement official who dares to claim anything other than that Obama is 100% legit in every way possible, is branded a nut, a kook, a conspiracy theorist and a “birther.” The media promotes these notions.
In fact, after the Arpaio press conference exposing his Cold Case Posse’s initial findings, the assembled press, the media, rather than asking about the process of investigation or the evidence shown…Attacked the messengers.
So, what IS the difference between all THESE “gates” and Watergate? The party involved. Then, in the 1970s, the administration 
was republican and so too was the President.
Now, today, the administration is democrat and so too, is the President.
Then as now, the media is predominately…democrat.
Between 1972 and 1974, in 2 short years, the media took to task and exposed those responsible for a simple break-in and rightly so, forced the resignation of the President who himself, had a role to play in it and the cover up of it.
Between 2007 and 2012, in more than 4 years, with an administration involved in all manner of shady deals and wrong doing and a President who is actively playing a part in it all, along with deeply burying his own questionable past…the media has done…Nothing.
The bottom line? The media is only interested in opening “gates” that swing to the right.
