VERY WELL SAID CLINT!!!!!! And YOU Mr.Kurt are umm, hmm, whats the word?Oh yeah…PATHETIC!!!!!!!!!!!
1. Drugs: Yes, he supports legalization. But again, he cannot repeal state drug laws. I don’t understand the problem you have with this. Any federal involvement in drugs is unconstitutional. It ALL belongs to the states under the 10th amendment. Yes, there’s medical marijuana out west, but the only reason there’s no mass arrests is because of Holder’s 2009 policy stating that there will only be an arrest when federal AND state laws are broken. So to sum up this point, don’t make the mistake of confusing his PHILOSOPHY with his POLICY and actual powers to implement said policy. He also believes prostitution shouldn’t be illegal even though he views it as immoral. That’s his PHILOSOPHY. His policy is that it is a states’ rights issue, so the states should decide. Nevada has decided one way, and the rest of us have decided a different way. There’s nothing he can or will do that will change any state policy on prostitution. The same goes for drugs.
2. He does firmly believe that the regime occupying Jerusalem should be removed. The key word there is “regime”. I’m sure you remember the regime change that took place in Iraq, yet Iraq was not destroyed or wiped off the map. The Hussein regime was removed, and a new regime has been elected and has taken over (mostly). And as I mentioned before, if you relied on the MSM’s reporting on the latest IAEA report, you’d believe they have proof Iran has been working on building a nuke. If, however, you actually do the necessary research on the issue, you know the IAEA report proves nothing of the sort, and instead continues to verify the non diversion of nuclear material in Iran, and Iran continues to meet its obligations under the NPT. The CNN story you cite, for example, is just one of many MSM stories that came out before the actual IAEA report came out in an effort to build alot of hype. What you’re not seeing is that the report itself was a big fat letdown for those who want war with Iran. Amano basically released alot of stuff Baradei never used when he was in charge of the IAEA because he could neither corroborate it nor be confident about its provenance and quality. Recently released Wikileaks documents reveal why Amano would do such a thing. He was caught saying he would be on our side in creating a narrative supportive of the US position on the Iranian alleged nuclear weapons program.
3. I know you didn’t say anything about Afghanistan in your piece, but the fact remains that we had to go into Pakistan BECAUSE of our invasion of Afghanistan and because we let OBL escape from Tora Bora. I’m fully aware of the current relations between the US and Pakistan. Typically when you bomb a country, it’s hard to maintain an actual friendship. My point still stands since you did nothing to address it: It wasn’t a war that caught OBL, it was a navy seals unit. That’s how this kind of conflict needs to be handled to begin with. Special forces and letters of marque and reprisal can accomplish much more than nation building if you’re really wanting to combat terrorism.
4. You say his nose for terrorism doesn’t seem to work well anymore, yet you provide no evidence nor use any reasoning to prove your statement. 9/11 was indeed an act of terrorism, which is classified as a crime and prosecutable as such. An act of war can only be perpetrated by a state, and AQ isn’t a state and doesn’t have a state. As I stated before, Ron Paul has never blamed 9/11 on America, never said “we were the reason it happened”. You did finally say something accurate though when you said he blames American foreign policy. He does blame our foreign policy for putting a target on our backs, and he’s right to do so. Or are you under the impression that we can kill hundreds of thousands of muslims without ever having to expect retaliation? If you believe we never should have expected retaliation, please tell me why. I would be very interested to see that line of reasoning. The principle of retaliation works for us. For example, we were attacked on 9/11 and our act of retaliation was to invade Afghanistan. Please explain why the muslim world doesn’t believe in retaliation. You say it is absolute crap that Ron Paul was the only one sounding the alarm, yet provide nothing to rebut what I said. Strangely, you cite Al Gore and Iraq WMD programs. Are you still under the impression Iraq was involved with 9/11? I’m fully aware that reports about terrorism are published regularly, yet nobody else in the government was sounding the alarm about islamic terrorism like Ron Paul did. So yes, he was the only one sounding the alarm. If you can find any other public figure who was sounding the alarm on islamic terrorism as far back as ’97/’98, please share that with me.
5. I’m rather confused by your line of reasoning. You seem to think that since the CIA is not authorized by the the Constitution, Ron Paul somehow shouldn’t be able to quote them. That is strange, indeed. The video wasn’t about “letting Iran have nukes”, it was about totally understanding why they MIGHT want nukes since they are surrounded by them and are under constant threat. And yes, he says there is no evidence, but no, the IAEA report does not disagree with him. As I said before, the IAEA report was a big letdown for the war hawks. You have utterly failed to defend the notion of sending aid to Israel. You cited no constitutional authority for Congress to send aid to ANY country. All you did was say Israel is in danger so we should send them money. I’m curious about something. Do you believe the Constitution is the law of the land and that our leaders’ oath of office to that document should be taken seriously? Or are you in favor of violating the Constitution when there is a particular goal to achieve? This seems to be your approach on foreign aid. If my assumption is wrong, please correct me. Ron Paul’s policy toward Israelis one that allows for Israeli sovereignty and self determination. If you examine what our policy has been toward them for many years, you’ll notice that we’re the ones holding them back from doing what needs to be done. The Palestinians are occupying land that God gave Israel thousands of years ago. Other surrounding countries also occupy portions of their land. Only Ron Paul’s policy would allow Israel to drive the occupiers out. His view is that it is none of our business what they do in their own national interest. I wholeheartedly agree. Do you?
6. I really don’t understand the reasoning behind sending money back to a Klan member. Why do you want a Klan member to have more money to spend on his racist and hateful activities? This is a rather strange position to take. Can you explain further?
7. You called him a moonbat for being concerned about the NAU, but have provided no reason why that makes him a moonbat. Furthermore, it seemed that the reason you brought it up is because you thought he might be cast as a moonbat because of his past concerns about it, should he get the nomination. What is the moonbat quality about being concerned about US sovereignty?
I know you didn’t make up anything in the video. That was never my contention. What you did do was pass on information that is either incomplete or incorrect. My comments provide corrections for you where there are errors, and fill in the blanks where information has been left out. I have also attempted to educate you on some constitutional issues such as the drug war and foreign aid. Going back to the fundamentals of the Constitution will assist you in not making those two errors again. I would encourage you to study the Constitution more closely because it will help refine your conservative positions. I do understand the perception about Ron Paul supporters. I cringe when I see them turn rabid because I know it does nothing good for the campaign. I find that simply engaging in a respectful dialogue is much more effective. On the flip side, I also think it is sad that some people choose their candidate based on that candidate’s supporters, instead of the candidate’s policies. I’ve been subjected to venomous attacks by supporters of all the other candidates, but my choosing of a candidate does not stem from their behavior. We are electing a president, not his/her supporters. Thank you for taking the time to engage in this dialogue. I look forward to your reply.
1. You are right, HE cannot, but he stated time and again that he supports legalization of hard drugs. There is nothing stopping him from proposing the repeal of the laws that make them illegal. I don’t even want that as an initiative. States do have their own drug policies, by the way, hence medicinal marijuana out west.
2. Why would you quote the words if you don’t believe them? Why would you quote the Ayatollah Khomeni’s stance on Israel, and lead the people in chants of “Death to America”, and “Death to Israel”. The regime occupying Israel is the Jewish people, and I categorically dismiss calls to genocidde, which is what that sounds like. One of the first steps in a nuclear arms program is the civilian power application. Now, the IAEA is saying that Iran is computer modeling a warhead that only be used for wartime purposes: http://articles.cnn.com/2011-11-07/middleeast/world_meast_iran-iaea-report_1_nuclear-weapon-iranian-nuclear-facilities-nuclear-program?_s=PM:MIDDLEEAST. Iran is a dangerous regime in a dangerous area.
3. In my piece, I never said anything about a war in Afghanistan, and have you seen the accusations coming out of Pakistan recently? They are no friend of the United States. Pervez Musharraf used to jog past the compound holding OBL. Don’t try to sell me on the idea that they would have given him up. They knew where he was.
4. His nose for terrorism doesn’t seem to work so well anymore. From refusing to call 9/11 an act of war, to saying that we were the reason it happened, he has blamed American foreign policy time and again. I love the argument that he was the only one sounding the alarm. That is absloute crap. Al Gore said in 1992 that we were aware of WMD rpograms in Iraq, and state reports about terrorism are published regularly. The man is not an Oracle.
5. The constitution doesn’t authorize a CIA, either, but Ron Paul has no problem quoting their works in this video about letting Iran have nukes because “everyone else around them has nukes”. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDvaTqLlZlA And he says that there is no evidence, but the IAEA disagrees with him, and you. As far as aid to Israel? Israel is the only stable democracy that I can think that is surrounded by declared enemies. Turkey has recently agreed to provide military escort to the Gaza flotillas. http://articles.cnn.com/2011-09-09/world/israel.turkey_1_israeli-blockade-israel-and-turkey-aid-ships?_s=PM:WORLD. So it’s not, as you say, “as simple as that”. Israel does not intend to destroy the Palestinian people, it could have done that a thousand times over. Ron Paul’s foreign policy would leave Israel alone, when they need us the most. An on this issue, Ron Paul = Barack Obama.
6. Here’s an article where Ron Paul’s campaign explains that he won’t send back Klan donations, since “he can put it to the cause of freedom”. http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=45152 If I am running for office, and I find out a Klan member and noted white supremacist has sent me money, I take out the checkbook and send the money back. There’e blood on it. He said something similar in a 2008 debate, where he coudln’t guarantee that the money he was sending back was the same money that was sent in, so he was going to keep the money. I didn’t say he’s a racist, I just said that he has a “macaca” moment, and that turns off voters on both sides.
7. Doesn’t matter, was still his position.
Look, I appreciate that you’ve made your choice, it’s a free country. But, and this is a big but, I didn’t make up any of the things I said in the video. Ron Paul is not my candidate because I am a conservative, not a libertarian. So try and erase the questionable decisions by your guy all you want, but here’s what you have to understand: The biggest reason conservatives don’t vote for Ron Paul is because of his supporters, not him. Every time someone crtiticizes or challenges Ron Paul, you become more venomous than Obama supporters. Just look at the comments under this video on YouTube. If Ron Paul doesn’t get the nomination, just remember this, it was your fault, not his.
1. Legalizing drugs: As president, Ron Paul cannot legalize drugs. As a representative, he’s at least trying to end the federal drug war on marijuana. If you read your pocket Constitution, you’ll be hard pressed to find any authorization for a federal drug war. Drugs are a STATE issue, not a FEDERAL one. States can still have their own drug policy.
2. Iran: This of course needs alot of discussion, but suffice it to say that most Americans don’t know the first thing about Iran, and base what little information they do know on MSM reporting. If you relied on the MSM’s reporting on the latest IAEA report for example, you’d believe they have proof Iran has been working on building a nuke. If, however, you actually do the necessary research on the issue, you know the IAEA report proves nothing of the sort, and instead continues to verify the non diversion of nuclear material in Iran, and Iran continues to meet its obligations under the NPT. Every hiccup in that report, unbeknownst to the layman, stems from the Additional Protocol, which Iran has not ratified and is not bound by. The Additional Protocol must be ratified by parliament in order for it to be binding on Iran. They have, however, voluntarily complied with some of the Additional Protocol, even though they are not bound by it. The 2011 NIE still says they’re not pursuing a weapon. We’ve even replaced street signs over there with mock ones that have sensors that detect nuclear material and we’ve found no suspicious activity. Most Americans also believe Ajad wants to wipe Israel off the map. Problem is, he never said that and he also has no authority over the Iranian military. His actual quote is as follows: “The regime occupying Jerusalem must vanish from the page of time”. That’s the exact quote, and Ajad was actually quoting the late Ayatollah Khomeini, so it wasn’t even his own words.
3. Pakistan: We got KSM by working with Pakistan. I believe some faction of the Pakistani government may have been involved in hiding OBL, but not the whole apparatus. Bottom line, there were ways to get OBL besides how we did it. In my opinion, it didn’t have to take 10 years to get him, and invading Afghanistan was not the way to get him. It wasn’t a war that caught him, it was a navy seals unit. That’s how this kind of conflict needs to be handled to begin with. Special forces and letters of marque and reprisal can accomplish much more than nation building if you’re really wanting to combat terrorism.
4. Blaming America: No, he doesn’t blame America for anything, because America didn’t do anything wrong. That’s like saying the Tea Party blames America for the debt problem. No, he blames government policy for inciting hatred toward America and putting a target on our backs. That’s why he warned as far back as 1998 that islamic terrorism would come to our shores if our policies didn’t substantially change. He warned again in February of 2001 and again in July of 2001. So for a guy you think can’t smell a bad guy coming, I find it funny he was the only one in public office sounding the alarm.
5. Israel: Yes, he got excluded from the RJC thing. His take on Israel is different, but oddly better than the status quo policy. He’s in favor of Israel’s sovereignty and independence. They are currently a welfare state. We send over $3 billion a year to them which certainly helps them to run their socialist health care system. Israeli economists want the aid to stop because it’s unhealthy. The Constitution doesn’t authorize foreign aid, either. Furthermore, we don’t even have a mutual defense treaty with Israel because they don’t want to be dragged into our crap. If you support Israel’s sovereignty, if you want them to have self determination, Ron Paul’s policy allows that to occur. He’s not going to tell them what to do in their conflict with Palestine. Under his policy, they’re free to take back ALL their land, which includes the portions occupied by other surrounding arab countries. It’s not OUR business, it’s THEIR business, and we shouldn’t dictate what they can and cannot do for themselves. With regards to Iran, Israel can nuke them if they want to, but they have to deal with the consequences. Simple as that.
6. Racist stuff: It’s entirely misleading to attribute those quotes to Ron Paul. It came out of a newsletter bearing his name, but which he didn’t oversee. This came out in 2007 and he took moral responsibility for it, but anyone who has read his actual writings over the years knows he didn’t write it himself. He’s always referred to racism as a nasty form of collectivism. So no, Obama wouldn’t have an advantage over him based on this.
7. North American Union: I haven’t heard him talk about this in quite awhile, probably because the initiative has pretty much died. Their website isn’t even up anymore, I don’t think.
Great video with very valid points and reasons that Ron Paul should NOT be our president.
After all that is being presented by the candidates, I wonder if there is a real conservative, who loves what America once was, among them that can win.
I wondered the other day if we are comming to a time when we will need to draft a candidate, much like was done with George Washington, or we will never have a true conservative in the White House again.
Well newt is not the man either look at his stance on Illegal immigration .! A NEWT travels right along the path with all the other snakes in the grass !
Very nice! Wonder if he is going to hit the highlights from other writers?
Thank you for that video!
I am posting this EVERYWHERE on Freedom Connector and others, where the “followers” have taken over!
