And now we know the truth. John Kerry, on Fox News this morning, admitted that the only reason there’s no deal from the “Super Committee” is because of the Bush Tax cuts.
In reality, those tax cuts could and should be referred to as the Bush/Obama tax cuts as it was Obama who renewed them.
Republicans on the committee has steadfastly refused to make the Bush/Obama tax cuts a part of the 1.2 trillion dollars in deficit cuts and for good reason. They promised not to.
Liberals on that committee want nothing more than to hike taxes. Liberals feel the wealthiest 1 or 2 percent of Americans must be soaked for more taxes. Oh, never mind that those are the same people who already pay 40% of all taxes…To liberals, it’s not enough.
In the liberal mindset, success MUST be punished.
Let’s not forget that this commission, the “Super Committee” was to have been non partisan and the solutions they were convened to seek, non partisan as well.
Let’s not forget also that doing away with the Bush tax cuts was a major plank in Obama’s 2008 campaign.
Therefore, one is left no alternative but to conclude that eliminating what is now, the Bush/Obama tax cuts, via the “Super Committee” is 100% partisan.
Hence, as it is the liberals who are unwilling to consider any solution to the 1.2 trillion in cuts necessary to stave off the “triggers” which would gut the military and dampen entitlements which do not include the elimination of the Bush/Obama tax cuts, it is indeed the liberals, the DEMOCRATS who are at the root of what will most likely be the failure of this “Super Committee.
Oh, liberals far and wide, will be blaming Republicans; but the facts, for those who care about facts, will tell a vastly different tale.
Republicans, via the “Super Committee,” have offered a number of solutions and each and every one of them have been dismissed by the liberals out of hand because none of those solutions include the elimination of the Bush/Obama tax cuts.
In fact, Republicans have offered to close loop holes which many in that top 1 or 2 percent take advantage of but…NOT good enough for the partisan liberals.
Liberals will attempt to say that Republicans are to blame because they refused to put those tax cuts on the table but, the fact is, if it was only the top 1 or 2 percent which liberals felt needed to be taxed more, those loophole closures would have fit the bill.
Liberals have also made it clear, and so has Obama, that the only way out of the hole in which our nation finds itself is to spend MORE. Liberals CAN’T spend MORE if taxes don’t get HIKED…Can they? Closing those loopholes isn’t enough even though it would be a revenue increase according to the liberals on that “Super Committee.”
Here’s something to keep in mind…If Congress does nothing, the Bush/Obama tax cuts will expire anyway at the end of 2012.
Obama has stated that he would veto any extension of the Bush/Obama tax cuts – so clearly, one way or another, he means to see those rates go away. Never mind that Obama himself has also stated that raising taxes in a recession is a bad idea.
Comprehensive tax reform, regardless of what it might look like, would also eliminate the Bush/Obama tax cuts.
Regardless the fate of the Bush/Obama tax cuts, it is those very tax cuts which are being used by democrats on the “Super Committee” to put a halt to any proposed solution. Democrats are unwilling to extend or save the Bush/Obama tax cuts and republicans have offered proposal after proposal to reach the 1.2 trillion dollar target without involving those tax cuts.
So, how is the republican’s not putting the Bush/Obama tax cuts on the table any different than the democrat’s dismissing any proposal which does not include the elimination of those cuts? Simple. Obama and the liberals already extended them in a bipartisan deal setting precedent and now, to abide by their 2008 campaigns, they insist those cuts be eliminated.
At this point, it seems we are but hours away from the announcement that the 10 weeks of the “Super Committee” dealings, or lack thereof, have been a failure and with that, the finger pointing will begin in earnest.
One thing will remain as fact – and that is John Kerry’s statement that it IS the Bush/Obama tax cuts not being included in any Republican proposal which has doomed the “Super Committee” to failure.
It will therefore be up to Republicans to force liberals to explain why they, the liberals, wouldn’t accept any proposed solution sans the elimination of the Bush/Obama tax cuts and that is something which will defy rational explanation.
Let’s not forget that the reason the Senate is as dysfunctional as we see it today is because of the 17th Amendment. I can promise you that if the Senate were still representing the states, we would see a very different government.
What we are seeing is the last thrashings of a government dependent upon a currency that is quickly spiraling into oblivion. Debt up to their eyeballs and they want to soak productive Americans more? With Obamacare coming online, the Bush tax cuts are being wiped away anyway. With unemployment so high, the government MUST tax more to keep those without jobs hooked on government payouts.
The solution is simple…get government out of the way. We could be a powerhouse…just open up the oil reserves. To you greenies, industry would do its best to preserve the spotted gecko or the polar bear as best it could, but in the end humans matter more than a lizard. Polar bears would find other places to hunt. Folks, we are on a precipice, and both parties are going to put us over the edge unless one side FINALLY decides to do the right thing. I don’t care what side does that, I only care that it gets done.
