Why COULDN’T Herman Cain become the next WHITE President? I know it sounds crazy. He’s never served in elective office before; but really, why COULDN’T Herman Cain be the next WHITE President?
To answer such an odd question one has to put it into context with liberal thought.
It was Toni Morrison who, back in 1998, in New Yorker magazine wrote of Bill Clinton, “White skin notwithstanding, this is our first black president. Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime. After all, Clinton displays almost every trope of blackness: single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald’s-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas.”
For his part, Clinton, upon receiving an Image Award from NAACP President Kweisi Mfume in 2001 stated, “That’s why I went to Harlem, because I think I am the first black president.”
So…according to liberal thought, Bill Clinton was the first black President.
Right now, in the midst of the GOP primary race to the nomination, Herman Cain is being attacked for…NOT being black enough.
Cain has been called a pawn of the republican party to prove that republicans aren’t racist. Now we all know that on any chess board there are two colors of pawns and, by the liberal tone of things, they aren’t painting Cain as one of the black ones are they?
According to the Daily Kos, “Herman Cain is no different than all the others except he is “Black.” He and Rush say the President is not “Black” enough! What an Uncle Tom!!!!! Herman Cain hasn’t been in a black neighborhood in years, he hasn’t spoken to any of his “poor” relatives, given them any help, or done anything that can be found on his résumé that makes him a “real” black man… Obama may be half black, but he is more of a “brother” than that Uncle Tom.”
1. Uncle Tom
A black man who will do anything to stay in good standing with “the white man” including betray his own people.
So, according to the Daily Kos, a FAR left liberal publication, Cain isn’t a “real” black man.
Cornel West, a professor at Princeton, and Tavis Smiley from PBS, who are both on a “Poverty Tour” had some things to say.
Cornel West: “Black people have been working hard for decades. I think [Cain] needs to get off the symbolic crack pipe and acknowledge the evidence is overwhelming.”
Tavis Smiley: “There are disparities in this country in every [socioeconomic] factor that we follow. In every aspect of our human endeavors in this country there is a racial disparity element that’s a part of it. It’s almost silly to respond to [Cain] because the evidence is so overwhelming,”
What these two liberals were responding to was Herman Cain’s statement, “People sometimes hold themselves back because they want to use racism as an excuse for them not being able to achieve what they want to achieve.”
Basically what West and Smiley are saying is that were Cain truly black, or not acting white, he’d believe that racism is holding people back and causing black people to not reach higher achievements.
Cornel West went on to state, of Herman Cain, “I think he also knows that if brother Anthony Davis, a brother who was just put to death, were a white Wall Street banker brother, that the response in the nation would have been very different as opposed to being a poor black brother. That’s just one small example, one very small example of racism still at work holding people back.”
Here, Professor West refers to Troy Anthony Davis who he obviously believe was executed in Georgia because he was black and not because he was arrested for, tried for, convicted of and sentenced for the killing of an off duty cop 22 years ago and implies that were Cain not thinking like a white guy, he too would come to the oh so obvious conclusion that Davis’ skin color rather than his crime, held him back.
Finally we have Lawrence O’Donnell on MSNBC who might just be positioning himself for an award from Kweisi Mfume. O’Donnell took Herman Cain to task with this exchange after reading from Cain’s book that his father told him to stay out of trouble during the civil rights movement in the mid 1960’s:
O’Donnell: “Where do you think black people would be sitting on the bus today if Rosa Parks had followed your father’s advice?”
Cain: “You are distorting the intent of what I said. If I had been a college student I probably would have been participating.”
Cain said, as a high school student, “it was not prudent” at that age to be involved in the movement.
O’Donnell stated that Cain had been a college student “at the height” of it all from 1963-1967, and that while black people were dying for their rights, Cain was “sitting on those sidelines.”
O’Donnell: “What I did read was a deliberate decision to not participate in the Civil Rights movement.”
What we have here is a white guy reading the race riot act to Cain because…If Cain were actually black, he too would have been involved in the civil rights movement.
Now then, given all of this, and believe me, there is more along these very lines of thought, why COULDN’T Herman Cain be our next WHITE President?
Here’s the way I look at it.
Herman Cain is a success story. He grew up, as he puts it, “Po before we were poor.” Cain got an education and served his country in the Navy. Cain worked hard and rose through the business ranks. He eventually was tapped, over and over again, to bring his acumen to one failing business after another – and time and time again, he brought those businesses not just back from the brink, he took them to the top.
That these businesses were in fact corporations should stand out. Those businesses ARE corporations; but, when he got HIS hands on them, they were FAILING corporations and Cain never was a corporate guy. Corporate ideas had failed these companies and Cain came in with NON corporate ideas and made them winners again.
Cain is NOT Wall Street.
Herman Cain is MAIN STREET.
Cain believes in an individual’s ability to become a success because that is exactly what HE did. Cain believes in the concrete values of the Founders and in the constitution. Cain KNOWS that businesses create jobs and government doesn’t. Cain knows that for businesses to be successful, they need clarity to plan for the long run and not uncertainty that prevents them from planning beyond the end of the next quarter.
Herman Cain knows that illegal aliens are…ILLEGAL and that taxes are too high and that we MUST stand with our allies and against our enemies.
Herman Cain realizes that a candidate’s message means more than a candidate’s bank account.
Herman Cain also knows there are things he doesn’t know and knows enough to know he can surround himself with those who do know.
What really bugs liberals is that Herman Cain is rising in the polls not because of his skin color and not despite it either, but because he has a strong message which they fear just might resonate with voters. Liberals who insist the Tea Party is the party of racism are trying to separate Cain from the pack based on race because they can’t challenge him on what he doesn’t possess…A record of political policy.
Herman Cain was confronted by, took on and defeated cancer.
Do liberals really think he’s going to be intimidated by their foolish words?
Will Herman Cain become the eventual GOP nominee and possibly our next President? Only time will tell – but if it happens and just to ease the liberal mindset which always feels the need to slap a color label on people and things…
Herman Cain could become our next Red, White and Blue President.
Those are colors that go way farther than skin deep.
A black man cannot be consevative?…
How do think he became a success in life,by playing the victim or race card?
Liberalism is a Mental disorder.
I hope Herman Cain becomes president and kicks liberal butt.
They need a vigorous ass kickin for their vile comments towards a good man.
Herman Cain is a Fed Banker. This is a dealbreaker for any thinking person, regardless of skin color. His approval of TARP, QE1 and QE2 are the proof that he has no grasp of economics, regardless of business background. His ridiculous 9-9-9 plan is just 27 percent on everyone: 9 percent income tax (via which the IRS can still crush anyone they want), 9 percent sales tax that everyone would pay, and the 9 percent corporate tax would just be folded into the price of said corporations prices. Herman Cain’s brain is the reason not to vote for him, not his skin.
People voted for Obama to prove they were not racist, I can vote for Cain because ?
