My last posting was an eye opener to the chains which our government places on business via “helping” with Regulations. After spending numerous hours on research and reading about Regulations, I realized I was a new born in the world of Government Regulations. I decided it was time to skip the first steps of walking, grow up, ascertain as much information I could to the affects this government has placed on our economic prosperity. I was shocked to find there are many who would place the life cycle of a fish ahead of the life of a human. I was shocked to discover that there are people in our country who would rather support an environmental department that is funded by taxpayers instead of supporting a business that would create more revenue. The most distressing discovery to this date is our (including mine) lack of knowledge for which the Environmental Government Agency known as the EPA has been responsible in destroying American jobs. I offer the following tidbits of information. I hope the citizens who are reading this take the time to get fired up and start firing back at this department; for surly it will be the demise of any industry surviving in America.
Most Americans do not see the “engine” of the business for which they are supporting with purchases. We have grown so accustomed to fast service, in the store; purchase the item, out of the store and on our way. It is common practice by many Americans. I am one of them. I do not look at a business and question how the merchandise is arriving, or who placed it there, or the cost to make sure it is there. I just want the merchandise that I went into the store to purchase. Simple for me, but the” engine” that makes this simple is full of gears turning, starting from the owner who brought the businesses to your local neighborhood. That is the start, but when the owner made the decision to create the businesses little did he or she know that a party to this business would be a government agency named the EPA. And then the gears started jamming, the chains were placed on the business and some of the chains choked the economic growth of the business that it had to shut down.
Take for example the farmers in California. These families have been farming for generations, all was going well, engine running smoothly and wham, gears stopped, EPA decided to place the life of a tiny fish named a smelt ahead of the families and their businesses. Water had to stop flowing to these farms according to the EPA. Why? Well apparently this fish was being pulled into the water supply system and being harmed. Never mind that stopping the water supply was going to cause devastation to the families, farms, local and national economy; EPA wanted the water supply system shut down and shut down now. And they did just that. The engines stopped, no more produce, no more local farming, no more money coming in for revenue, no more family farms. Jobs lost, lives ruined, all for the life cycle of a fish.
Some people are involved in an organization named the Lung Action Network; I am now receiving email, in order to keep up with their insidious rhetoric on our coal plants. I know some of you had seen the video about a coal plant owner Ronnie Bryant at a Birmingham, Alabama public meeting state that he was quitting. Why? Because of the chains that are placed on him by the EPA. His company would have provided jobs for the local economy, and tax revenue for the Federal Government, but due to the chains of regulations he was unable to achieve this growth. But did you know about a plant in the Mojave Desert which was forced to close in 2003 due to the claim that air pollution was causing harm, so about 100 families lost income, the plant kept some on to maintain the power plant in the event that it could re-open. As quoted in the article” The majority owner of Mohave Generating Station, a landmark in Laughlin for 30 years, will not continue efforts to reopen the power plant that was a source of inexpensive electricity for Southern Nevada and a major source of air pollution.” Power Plant owners have made the decision not to re-open, due to the inability to overcome the regulations. The time has come to put a halt to the choke hold on economic growth by our Federal Government.
Currently the EPA is changing their requirements for Ozone regulations, yes your read that right. Ozone regulations are going to impact the manufacturing in America, and once again the engines of economic growth will have gears jammed with regulations. This report from the Manufacturing Alliance in its conclusion states that our Federal Government named the EPA has failed in their estimations of jobs lost and revenue loss as quoted with this statement; “A tendency toward underestimating costs while overestimating benefits makes it is easier to justify new standards.” Also stated in this report was the knowledge that businesses would leave this once great manufacturing country and move to another country in order to keep participating in the markets for which they are doing business. This will, according to Manufacturing Alliance, cost our nation over 676.8 Billion in gross receipts from just 11 states by the year 2020. That is only 9 years away. The job loss is estimated to be 7.3 million by 2020. I don’t know about you, but I am sure this economic recession we are in can ill afford this loss. http://www.mapi.net/Filepost/ER-707.pdf. In order to help our countries economic growth we must be vigilant with our elected officials, letting them know exactly what we want from them: The keys to the chains of government regulations! We need the keys to unlock the choke hold of economic freedom in our great country.
To sum this up, the three industries I wrote about, Farming, Power and Manufacturing are in the chains of regulations by the EPA/ Federal Government and their engines of growth have stalled, some even stopped. I do believe we have the power to change the course of this destruction in America. I have faith that the more Americans are made aware of the job destroying department named EPA, the more Americans will be willing to do what is needed to start the engines of Economic Growth again in our great country.

Thank you for helping out, wonderful information. “Those who restrain desire, do so because theirs is weak enough to be restrained.” by William Blake.
Hello Margret …. Keep fighting. We are doing the same thing over here in Texas.

I really knew about virtually all of this, but having said that, I still thought it had been valuable. Excellent post!
