Tell the truth to all your friends, spread the word to all your Military families, the Commander In Chief, Pres Obama, changed the way Military is paid during a government shutdown. In 1995 during the shutdown the Military was paid they were considered Essential Personnel as they should be. But last year then Speaker Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid along with approval from Pres Obama, they made the decision to not pass the 2011 fiscal budget. It became political for them; this was an opportunity to use this against the Republicans as a majority of military do vote Republican. So the Commander in Chief stabbed his men and women in the back for political gain… Then in 2010 Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi failed to produce a budget, she let the process go into continuing resolutions during the election time frame. Once again this action was all for politics.
Here is the article from the Air Force Times explaining the change in procedures for paying Military during a government shutdown. Read it and share it. Let the truth be heard around the nation. The Commander in Chief let down the military who serve under him.
“When the government was shut down in 1995, military personnel continued to report to work and were paid, but the planning guidance sent to the services and defense agencies says a shutdown this time will be different.”
“All military personnel will continue in normal duty status regardless of their affiliation with exempt or non-exempt activities,” says the draft planning guidance that was prepared for the services and defense agencies. “Military personnel will serve without pay until such time as Congress makes appropriated funds available to compensate them for this period of service.”
I pose this thought to all who are reading this article. Does this make our military slaves to the Commander in Chief, forced labor to the Commander in Chief? After all they are providing a service, yet they are not being paid. They cannot just walk off the job as Unions can, or any other private sector worker could. The military would be brought up on charges if they left their duty station for not being paid. The Commander in Chief will be paid. He will continue to vacation. He will have food on his table, He will have his rent or mortgage paid. He will continue to fly all over the USA on tax payers dollars all the while his military men and women will not get paid. They can die for this country but they won’t be paid. They are the ones being wronged. A legislative law needs to be enacted to make sure this never occurs again. Military are essential, it is provided in the Constitution yet this Pres can change a rule to make them non- essential. I do believe we conservatives need to make the charge for legislation change to occur so this never ever happens again. We cannot wrong our Military families in this manner.
